The F1H2O/Powerboat Boat Race Was Held on Lake Toba Sumatera Indonesia

The first time, the F1H2O/Powerboat boat race was held on Lake Toba, Sunday, 26 February 2023.

Presiden Joko Widodo, Arrived in Toba Regency, North Sumatra, this afternoon and went straight to the podium on the edge of Lake Toba. Podium? Yes, my arrival in Toba Regency was to witness the F1H2O Powerboat World Championship, a one-seat racing boat championship held by Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM).

The racing is really fun. It was also my first time watching F1 Powerboat which was attended by 10 teams with 20 racers. Finally, coming out as the first winner was Bartek Marszalek from the Strømøy Racing F1H2O team, who started the race from pole position. The second position was occupied by Sami Seliö from the Sharjah team and the third position was occupied by Eric Stark from the Victory team.

There was also one female participant, Marit Stromoy, from Norway. Apparently, apart from being a Powerboat racer, he is also a singer.

Congratulations to the champions. This competition on Lake Toba is only the first of eight international championships in 2023. After Indonesia, the next series will be held in China.

The people who live around Lake Toba can be proud because apart from having the largest volcanic lake in the world which offers beautiful views, now an international event is also being held in that place. Yes, for the first time, the F1H2O/Powerboat boat race was held on Lake Toba, Sunday, 26 February 2023.

The presence of an international scale boat racing event makes the people of North Sumatra Province, especially those who live around Lake Toba, feel proud. This is felt by Jisca for example, a local resident who lives around Lake Toba.

"So at that time we saw the arrival of visitors, officials too, we were proud as Toba residents themselves. Until I got goosebumps because it was the first time there was an international event at our place, seriously," said Jisca.

As a native who has lived around Lake Toba since childhood, Jisca feels that the presence of an international event can revive the prestige of Lake Toba and its beauty. Jisca said that when she was little, Lake Toba was often visited by foreign tourists.

"Toba which is as beautiful as this has to go up again, right, because in the past I also remember when I was in elementary school, foreign tourists came here often. Why less? I think there really needs to be a government that helps to get this up again, right? So, with this we are proud, happy, and if possible, there will always be an event like this every year," he said.

Another local resident, Arta Sianipar, came to watch F1H2O with his husband. Like Jisca, Arta also admitted that he was proud and touched because he could witness an international event in his area.

"My own feeling was when I heard that there was F1H2O, seen on television too, social media, I was very touched because it was such a big, global event , the main thing was that I was touched by the small town of Balige that all over the world could come, even officials, the President, came to Toba, touched. once," said Arta.

Meanwhile, Sofian Sitorus, another Toba resident, saw that the presence of F1H2O had a significant impact on the economy in his area. He also hopes that the government can further improve the organization of the international race event and the public can increase their hospitality so that the F1H2O event can continue for many years to come.

"I think the impact is quite big. We see traffic jams, we interpret that a lot of people come, people come, of course it also has an economic impact on us," said Sofian.

"Our hope is because this clearly has a positive impact, if it goes to the government it can be better managed, both in terms of preparation and implementation itself. From the community, thank God, we have to improve our hospitality when we receive guests. Actually we also have a philosophy that if the guest is a king, society should also be treated that way I think," he continued.

The Toba residents have the same desire, namely that the beauty of Lake Toba can be better known by both national and foreign tourists. They also invite people to travel to Lake Toba.

"So for tourists who might normally go to other areas, for example for example Bali or others, they may come here. So, for our own shortcomings here, please understand, but we are sure to be hospitable to guests who come from outside to our place and are safe here, don't worry," said Jisca.
