Inaugurated the Danu Kerthi Dam in Buleleng, Bali,
President Joko Widodo inaugurated the Danu Kerthi Dam which is located in Buleleng Regency, Bali Province, on Thursday, 2 February 2023.
In his remarks, the Head of State said that the dam had been built since 2018 and cost a budget of IDR 820 billion. “The budget spent to build this dam is IDR 820 billion, that's a lot of money. And the capacity is 5.1 million cubic meters," said the President.
Furthermore, the Head of State said that the presence of the dam could provide a number of benefits for the people living around the dam.
"The inundation area is approximately 29.8 hectares which will irrigate 588 hectares of rice fields.
So this dam is used to irrigate rice fields, the second is to reduce flooding," said the President.
On the same occasion, the Governor of Bali I Wayan Koster explained that originally the dam which was also a national strategic project (PSN) had the name Tamblang Dam.
However, he asked President Jokowi to inaugurate the dam with the local wisdom name, namely the Danu Kerthi Buleleng Dam.
"We ask the President to be willing to inaugurate the dam which was originally called the Tamblang Dam, we ask to use local wisdom with the proposed name of the Danu Kerthi Buleleng Dam.
Danu is a source of water, Kerthi is to purify and ennoble springs," he said. On this occasion, President Jokowi also inaugurated the arrangement of the Ngurah Rai Bali Mangrove Area.
During the inauguration, the President was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, ATR Minister/Head of BPN Hadi Tjahjanto, Presidential Special Staff Coordinator Ari Dwipayana, and Acting. Buleleng Regent Ketut Lihadnyana.
