The government is targeting the construction of around 60 dams by the end of 2024. Today, I inaugurated the 30th dam, namely the Semantok Dam in Nganjuk Regency, East Java.

The Semantok Dam was built in 2017 with an investment value of IDR 2.5 trillion. Its capacity is very large, namely 32.67 million cubic meters with an inundation area of ​​365 hectares. This dam will irrigate about 1,900 hectares of rice fields.

Availability of water is key to the success of many sectors, from tourism to agriculture. With more and more dams being built, I hope that our agricultural production will improve, and the welfare of Indonesian farmers will also increase.

Today the First Lady and I went to East Java for a day visit. I will provide social assistance to market traders in Madiun and Nganjuk, and inaugurate the Semantok Dam in Nganjuk Regency.
