President Joko Widodo said: The article from AI Both is an unqualified article and there is no accountability

The digital giant's algorithms tend to keep only the commercial side and will only push sensational, low-quality content.

“Right now, in my opinion, the main problem is making responsible reporting because people are flooded with news from social media and other digital media, including foreign platforms. Generally it is not edited, or controlled by AI (artificial intelligence)," said the President. According to the President,

The digital giant's algorithms tend to keep only the commercial side and will only push sensational, low-quality content.

This situation sacrifices the quality of content and authentic journalism is increasingly being lost.

“This kind of thing should not dominate the life of our society. Conventional media that produce editorials are increasingly pressured in the news map," he wrote. The second main problem, the President continued, is the sustainability of the convention media industry which faces tough challenges. According to the Head of State, currently around 60 percent of advertising spending has been taken up by digital media, especially foreign platforms.

"What does it mean? Conventional media's financial resources will continue to decrease, the flight will definitely go there. Some have developed themselves into digital media, but the dominance of foreign platforms in taking advertising spending has beaten the media in our country," he explained. Then the third main problem is poverty and domestic data security which must be a common concern. The President views data as new oil whose price is infinite.

The President also reminded all parties to be aware of the use of algorithms for the community. “The data masters can not only understand people's habits and behavior, by utilizing algorithms, data masters can control people's preferences, this is what we all have to be careful about. This should be our vigilance together. Be careful and alert about this," he said. For this reason, the President pushed for the completion of two Draft Presidential Regulations (Perpres), namely the Draft Presidential Regulation on Cooperation between Digital Platform Companies and Press Companies to Support Quality Journalism and the Draft Presidential Regulation on Corporate Responsibility of Digital Platforms to Support Quality Journalism.

"My suggestion is to meet later in one month regarding this Perpres. Not more than one month, already. I will participate later in several discussions regarding this, "he said.
